Moving Day Coming Soon
Painting, papering, cabinetry, wiring, flooring, carpeting! The church manse we will soon call home is undergoing an extensive facelift. The former farmhouse is said to be about 400 years old, the oldest house in this area. For six months we have lived in a small apartment waiting for the day of our move. If all goes according to plan, we will shift our furniture and belongings on March 7th. We are looking forward to being able to practice more hospitality and set up a proper office. Contact us for address details. Due to the wonders of technology, we can be reached by telephone at our old Canadian telephone number. Just don't call after 6 pm please. We will be in bed here in the UK.
Keeping in Contact
If you would like to have more regular contact, may we suggest becoming friends on Facebook? You can find either one of us there by entering our email address in the search field.
To be honest, Karen's Facebook is much better (so says George). She has new tidbits about life and ministry in England almost every day.
Ripe Fruit
After a Sunday evening service in January, a newcomer to church stayed behind to talk. "I need to become a Christian," were the first words from her mouth. To make a long story short, that night she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour. Pray for Bea as she carries much baggage from the past and Satan is doing his best to hinder her new walk of faith.
Conversation for Christ
A new English conversation class for men was begun recently. There are many immigrant men here who can use this kind of help. Quite a number have expressed interest, even the leader of the local mosque. Pray that God will use this to help us establish relationships and provide opportunities to share the good news about Jesus. Our majority Muslim neighbourhood is virgin territory as no other church or ministry does gospel work here, nor have they ever in anyone's memory. In addition to Karen's continuing English teaching ministries, she has begun to tutor Aisha, a young Sudanese wife and mother, each week.
1,000 DVDs
Our goal this year is to offer a free Jesus film DVD to each of the 1,000 homes in our immediate area. Currently we are trying to find budget or free pricing as well as the appropriate editions for each of the language groups represented here. We look forward to having a team from Canada come in the spring and help us with this important seed-sowing ministry.
