What are "the Kings of England" up to this month?
We are looking forward to several outreach events during the month of December.
On Saturday morning of Dec. 18th, we are involved in an outdoor Christmas program on a busy street corner, with the hope that some of the shoppers will stop and listen. That afternoon we will host a Holiday Fun Day for the neighbourhood children. Please pray for a good turn out and positive rapport with the community. When we held our Holiday Club (VBS) last May, many Muslim children attended.
On Sunday the 19th, we will have a "Christmas Family Day" at our church with a Christmas meal and games, followed by a candlelight service with "Lessons and Carols" (a traditional British Christmas service). Though the Brits sing many of the same carols here, a lot of them are sung to a different tune than the ones we are familiar with in Canada!
British churches do not typically have a Christmas Eve service, but enjoy a short but sweet Christmas Day service. Then we plan to have some guests who have no extended family here in England to celebrate with (like us!), join us in our home for a turkey dinner.
On the 26th we have invited our Muslim ESL students and their families to come to an open house at our home. Please pray that many come. We plan to give the Jesus film to our guests as a Christmas gift.
On New Years Eve, we will have a party and service at the church. (Last year a Nigerian family joined our celebrations and have since been regular attenders at our church.)
We wish you all a very "Happy Christmas!"
