This x-ray shows very similar hardware to that which was installed in George's left leg. His inside ankle has 2 long pins, and the outside ankle has a long steel plate with 7 screws (not 10 as pictured here).

People have asked whether the new hardware in George's leg set off airport metal detectors when he flew down to ABWE's Missionary Enrichment Conference in July. The answer is NO. Apparently, stainless steel is non-magnetic and does not affect metal detectors. However, because of things that could be hidden in George's "air cast", security officials took him aside and swabbed the boot with bomb-detecting chemicals.
